// TORONTO FC YOUTH PROGRAM
The TFC Youth Program is the first phase of Toronto FC's Player Development strategy and has been created with age-specific training in mind. Camps will teach the fundamental soccer skills with an emphasis on fun. Players will be encouraged to experiment, learn the basics in order to feel comfortable with the game, and will be placed in an age bracket that challenges them.
// PROGRAM FEATURES:
- 10:1 coaching ratio with Academy Manager and Head Coach Stuart Neely, Senior Academy Head Coach Jason Bent and their supporting staff
- Special coaching appearances by TFC Head Coach, Assistant Coaches and Strength and Conditioning Coach Paul Winsper as well as members of Toronto FC’s senior roster and staff
- Program built with training methods focused on coordination, attitude, speed and technique
- Development through technical drills, repetition, small-sided games
- Graduated programming at the discretion of coaching staff
- Gender-specific programs available in U11-U12 categories
- Players will learn how to train, develop discipline and positive habits in a competitive environment
// TRAINING IS FOCUSED ON THE DEVELOPMENT THROUGH THE 'CAST' MODEL:
- COORDINATION - Taught how to hold their weight properly, twisting, turning, changing direction
- ATTITUDE - Emphasis on team play, 100% effort, time on/off the ball and recovery, effect of attitude on others
- SPEED - Proper pace over distance, stamina
- TECHNIQUE - Moving on and off the ball with their feet, encouraging 'quick feet'.
Model is taught through rotation of technical and coordination drills and small-sided games.
