Dynamo Academy recruitment
The Dynamo Elite Camps will be the main resource for identification and recruitment for the Dynamo Academy.
There are also a number of rules and regulations imposed by Major League Soccer controlling recruitment within Academies:
- The Academy can take players in age groups Under 15 to Under 18
- Players must reside within the team "Home Territory" (125 miles of the teams training facility)
- Teams may have a limited number of players who do not reside in the Home Territory
- There are a maximum number of players a club can register
Boys are selected to register with the Academy following a successful trial period. A player can be invited to attend for a trial following:
- Evaluated at Dynamo Elite Camp
- Assessment in their own environments (e.g.: club, school, state or regional teams)
- Recommendation from personnel within the professional game
- Demonstrating potential whilst attending a Dynamo Center of Excellence (ages U8-U14)
- Recommendations by Dynamo Player Development System coaches resulting from attendance on a seasonal camp.
- Recommendation by Club DOC's and School coaches within the area
- Young players can feel assured that if they are playing club or school soccer regularly our scouts will see them.
Our network of scouts and coaches will watch thousands of players each season. To establish Houston Dynamo's reputation as a club renowned for its successful development of players, the recruitment of young talent is a priority for the Academy.
Houston Dynamo will be one of the more innovative Academies in player development; the emphasis in recruiting players will always remain on quality and not quantity.
