Always wanted to get your foot in the door and learn about the world of sports? Get an internship in Major League Soccer with Chivas USA! The internship program consists of internship opportunities throughout the organization. These are unpaid positions, and in order to be considered for the program, applicants must be students who will receive academic credit for the experience. Our offices are located in Carson, CA at The Home Depot Center.

Marketing Intern
Reports To: Director of Marketing Primary Responsibilities- Assist the marketing department with game day operations and day-today activities
- Help with media management for print, radio and TV
- Assist the marketing department with game day operations and day-to-day activities
- Help with media management for print, radio and TV
- Handle creative materials branding team and logo image
- Fulfill marketing initiatives such as ChivaSocio and ChivaGirls
- Work with the "street crew" at grassroots events
- Understand the CD Chivas USA culture and fan base
- Carry out CD Chivas USA sponsorship fulfillment
- Ability to work all game days and a minimum of two days per week
- Must be available on special events and have excellent communication skills in English and Spanish (written and spoken)
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, experience using Adobe Illustrator or Micromedia Fireworks a plus
- Strong knowledge of and passion for Major League Soccer and Mexican first division soccer
- Must be a responsible and committed individual who is a hard worker and is looking for "hands-on" experience
Sponsorship and Activation Intern
Reports To: Director of Corporate Sales Sponsorship Elements:- Assist in the production and execution of a sponsor related event including set up and tear down of the event
- On-site customer relations
- dealing with soccer parents, players, and coaches
- On-site sponsor fulfillment
- execution of contractual elements for the event as well as assist in operations at the stadium and sports park during major events
- Communication with clients including pre and post reports of the events hosted
- Candidate must be detail oriented and possess strong communication skills
- A working knowledge of Word, Excel, Power Point and Access, as well as previous database input experience, is a plus.
- For the set up and tear down of certain events, candidates must be able and willing to lift items up to 30lbs.
- Ability to work all game days and a minimum of two days per week
- Must be available on special events and have excellent communication skills in English and Spanish (written and spoken)

Sales Intern
Reports To: Director of Sales Primary Responsibilities- Intern will support the sales department in ticket sales programs and events
- Make outbound phone calls to potential and existing clients
- Assist with game day activities
- Hours can range from 20-30 hours per week, in addition to working games and special events. Interns MUST be able to work weekends and have a reliable source of transportation.
- Assist sales effort via cold and warm calls to past buyers
- Assist sales staff with Game Day Operations (client entertainment, on-field operations, etc.)
- Assist sales staff with in-office duties (mailers, data entry, etc.)
- Assist with off-site events (tournaments, player appearances, clinics, etc.)
- Ability to work all game days and a minimum of two days per week
- Must be available on special events and have excellent communication skills in English and Spanish (written and spoken)
- Intern will support the sales department in ticket sales programs and events
- Excellent writing, telephone and interpersonal skills
- Make outbound phone calls to potential and existing clients
- Assist with game day activities
- Proficiency in Microsoft word, excel, PowerPoint, and internet
Communications Intern
Reports To: Director of Communications Summary- Communications Interns assist with all media, information and broadcasting activities for Chivas USA.
- Internships are granted to a limited number of qualified candidates on a semester basis.
- Minimum commitment: 20 hours per week, with preference given to full-time candidates.
- This position is based in Carson (Los Angeles County), California.
- Serve as contact for media and additional information requests
- Write, edit and translate press releases and other publications
- Assist with media operations, including archives, accreditation, media lists and game day logistics
- Assist with special projects including press conferences, publications, broadcast and special events
- Oversee and maintain Web content
- Formulate and effectively deliver news pitches, as needed
Other Roles and Functions
As deemed necessary by Director, Communications
- Excellent written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills in Spanish and English
- Background in PR, journalism, marketing, communications, sports administration or related field
- Excellent time management, organizational skills and professional demeanor
- Strong knowledge of and passion for Major League Soccer and Mexican First Division soccer
- Strong computer skills including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Internet Explorer
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in pressure situations
- Individual must be detail-oriented and a self-starter
Community Affairs Intern
Reports To: Director of Community Affairs & Development Primary Responsibilities- Program development for department and Chivas Foundation
- Create fundraisers and events
- Promote team and foundation endeavors
- Coordinate player appearances
- Facilitate community ticket programs
- Direct game day community activities
- Ability to work all game days and a minimum of two days per week.
- Must be available on special events and have excellent communication skills in English and Spanish (written and spoken).
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Must be a responsible and committed individual who is a hard worker and is looking for "hands-on" experience.
Soccer Development Intern
Reports To: Soccer Development Manager Primary Responsibilities- Assist in managing the Chivas USA Futbol Academy Programs
- Assist with Soccer Development programs like Sangre Nueva (open tryouts), Youth and coaching clinics
- Assist with game day operations when needed
- Record keeping/data entry
- Other duties assigned by Manager
- Internships are open to college students only (junior, senior, or graduate level)
- Interns must receive academic credit toward graduation (students are responsible for providing documentation of academic credit for internship)
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledgeable of soccer
Stadium Operations Intern
Reports To: Director of Operations Primary Responsibilities- Interns will assist with day of game operations in the following areas:
- Assist in the set-up for game day
- Set-up of locker rooms for (referees, opposing teams)
- Supervision of pre-game activities, halftime activities, set-up and breakdown
- Internships are open to college students only (junior, senior, or graduate level)
- Interns must receive academic credit toward graduation (students are responsible for providing documentation of academic credit for internship)
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledgeable of Soccer
Ticket Operations Intern
Reports To: Director of Ticket Operations Primary Responsibilities- Creating accounts
- Processes tickets orders in a timely manner
- Responsible for printing and distribution of tickets
- Manage single game tickets
- Assist in game day operations as they relate to stadium seat tickets including: distribution of "will call" tickets, verification and replacement of lost or stolen tickets and seating problems
- Other duties include updating customer information, resolving customer complaints and assisting with periodic mass mailing campaigns
- High School Diploma required
- Ticketing or customer service experience in a related field.
- Knowledge of computers and various systems including Microsoft Word and Excel
Finance / Accounting Intern
Reports To: Senior Accounting Manager Primary Responsibilities- Assist with the monthly closing process and the preparation of the monthly financial reporting package
- Assist with the preparation of the weekly ticket sales and game statement reports
- Assist in the preparation of various financial analyses
- Interns will possess organizational and analytical skills and the ability to communicate and interact in a work environment.
- The candidate will preferably have completed his/her sophomore year and be a finance/accounting major with experience using Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Intern will gain valuable exposure to the business side of a professional sports organization
