LAMAR HUNT LEGACY CUP

As siblings within the soccer community, we share a bond.
Our bond dates back to the 1966 World Cup when Dallas native Lamar Hunt attended that World Cup in England. Hunt was filled with passion and taken aback by the magic of the game and the atmosphere surrounding it.
Upon returning to Dallas, Hunt began work on establishing professional soccer in the United States. The result of his efforts was the NASL and Dallas Tornado. The Tornado brought many of our community's present day Influencers to the area, such as Bobby Moffat, Neil Cohen and Kenny Cooper, Sr.
Hunt championed the sport of soccer for more than 30 years, assisting in the bid to bring the World Cup to the U.S. in 1994 and the ensuing creation of the MLS, which began in 1996.
In 2003, Hunt, through the Hunt Sports Group, acquired the Dallas Burn and announced plans to build a first class soccer-specific venue in North Texas. That venue is Pizza Hut Park, the crowning jewel of Lamar Hunt's legacy as a pioneer for soccer.
Hunt's vision is continued today through FC Dallas and the Hunt Sports Group, operated by his sons Clark (Chairman) and Dan (Vice President).
Because of Lamar Hunt we have a strong soccer community.

Pizza Hut Park has 17 tournament size fields that are maintained year-round. Three of the fields use Sprinturf, a synthetic turf system.
Because of its year-round maintenance, Pizza Hut Park keeps a high-level of quality in field condition, lending to more competitive play.
