Fans

The soccer fan is a rare breed of human. Their passion for the Beautiful Game is matched only by the effort of their respective side. They feel the pain of losses and share in the joy of victories. They turn matchdays into holidays and stadiums into carnivals.

There are fans ... and there are soccer fans. And then, there are D.C. United fans.

Since the inception of MLS in 1996, D.C. United has been the most successful side not only on the field, but in the stands as well. In 2001, supporters of the Black-and-Red packed RFK in record numbers, leading MLS in attendance with over 21,000 fans per game. The numbers are impressive, but not as impressive as the spirit of those who have come to RFK to support their side, turning a regular sporting event into a unique experience.

Since matchday comes only twice a week and you'll need something to tide you over, this section of dcunited.com is for you, the dedicated fans of the Black-and-Red. You can find information on the team's Fan Clubs, discuss all things soccer on the Message Board, or send a message to your favorite player via E-Fan Mail.

There is also information for the younger fans of United, such as how to participate in MLS's Dribble, Pass and Score contests and how to become a member of the D.C. United Youth Fan Club.

Whether it's in the stands or on your computer, D.C. United thanks you for your support and encourages your continued dedication in following the Black-and-Red.
