Eddie Carvacho
Columbus Crew Assistant Coach

Eddie Carvacho is in his second season on The Crew’s coaching staff.

A USSF “A” licensed coach, Carvacho brings a wealth of playing and coaching experience to the Crew staff.

He was most recently Director of Coaching & Operations for the Golden Isles Soccer Association and Jekyll Island Soccer Complex in St. Simons Island, Ga., from 2003-2005.

Prior to that, he was an assistant coach at Clemson (2001-2003). He also has his NSCAA Premier Diploma and is on the USSF National Instructor Goalkeeper staff.

As a player, Carvacho was an All-American at South Alabama in 1989 and had professional stints with the Colorado Foxes (APSL), Nashville Metros (USISL) and Atlanta Ruckus (A-League). He was also a U.S. National Team pool goalkeeper under former national team coaches Bob Gansler and Bora Milutinovic. Carvacho grew up in Chile and was a part of the Santiago Wanderers youth system, as well as a pool player for the Chilean U-20 National Team.

Carvacho also has some previous ties to The Crew, having been called up on loan to the team in 1997 while with Atlanta. He was also a teammate of Jon Busch’s with the USISL Nashville Metros in 1996.

The bilingual Carvacho currently hosts a weekly Spanish-language soccer show on Radio Sol (1550-AM) and writes a regular column for Spanish-language weekly Fronteras. Both soccer-themed entities are called “Pasion de Gol” (Passion for Goals).

Carvacho and his wife, Nicole, have two children, Nicolas and Gracelyn.
