The Chicago Fire held a series of free soccer clinics this summer in various Chicagoland neighborhoods. These clinics were open to athletes from around the community, ages 7-14. The series was designed to instruct young athletes on the technical elements of soccer, while educating them on physical fitness, health and wellness.
The four summer clinics, which were instructed by Chicago Fire player development coaches, were separated into groups by age with sessions tailored to the varying skills levels. Each athlete received a free goody-bag courtesy of United Healthcare, Best Buy, Walgreen's, V & V Supremo, Adidas and Bush's Beans. Also included was a ticket voucher to a Fire game and a free Community Soccer Series t-shirt.
Each clinic featured:
- A skills clinic featuring soccer drills, technique instruction, and mini-games
- A question and answer opportunity with two Chicago Fire players
- An exclusive autograph session with the two Chicago Fire players
The Chicago Fire and the Chicago Fire Foundation teamed up with Bush's Beans for the 2009 Bush's Beans Back-to-School Drive. The Fire, along with Fire defender and Back-to-School Drive spokesperson, Dasan Robinson, helped collect school supplies at home games during the month of August. Fans were encouraged to donate new and gently used school supplies at TOYOTA PARK during the following Chicago Fire home games: August 1, August 19, August 23, and August 29.
Through this drive, the Fire and Bush's Beans collected all the basic supplies that kids need to start the school year off on the right foot, including backpacks, folders, notebooks, rulers, crayons, pencils, glue, scissors and other supplies. Robinson helped hand deliver the donated school supplies to various schools and non-profit organizations in the Chicagoland community, including Sandoval Elementary School of the Chicago Public School (CPS) system. Thank you to all those who helped make the 2009 Bush's Beans Back-to-School Drive a success!

The 2009 "Scoring Through Education" program presented by Walgreens is a FREE in-class incentive program designed to help motivate students to achieve educational success. The program serves as a tool for teachers who seek unique tactics to help enhance their classroom activities.
How "Scoring Through Education" works:
- Teachers have the flexibility to set goals for their classroom and integrate the "Scoring Through Education" program into their curriculum as they see fit.
- Teachers receive a welcome kit and in-class tools to help make "Scoring Through Education" a success.
- As a participant in the program, each student receives a "Scoring Through Education" bookmark and folder. Teachers can use the bookmark to track the student's progress as each goal is reached.
- When a student successfully completes all three of their goals, he or she will be rewarded with a ticket to a Chicago Fire Major League Soccer game at TOYOTA PARK. Family members will also have the opportunity to purchase additional discounted tickets.
- On top of individual achievement, your entire school is eligible to earn a special reward. The school that has the most students complete the Scoring Through Education program will earn a special visit by Sparky, the Chicago Fire mascot, along with the Chicago Fire organization.
