MLS Experience
2007: After playing more than 2,400 each of the last three seasons, the elder Carroll brother saw less of the field in 2007, due to Head Coach Tom Soehn's midfield rotation. Despite playing only 1,801 minutes in 28 games (19 starts), the defensive midfielder collected a career high four assists.2006: A mainstay in the midfield for the Black-and-Red, Carroll was first on the team in minutes played (2,779). He earned Goal of the Week honors for his effort on 7/15 against Columbus, a ferocious right-footed shot that rocketed into the top corner of the goal. On 9/23, due to yellow card accumulation, Carroll's streak of 90 consecutive games played ended - it was the second longest streak in MLS history (Kevin Hartman - 93). The Springfield, VA native also tied his career high with three assists.
2005: Carroll was the only United player in 2005 to see action in every single MLS match, starting 30 of the 32 games he saw time in. He was one of only two players on the Black-and-Red to appear in every match for United in 2004, not missing a minute of action until United's 8/11 match against the Columbus Crew. He registered his first career assist against the Columbus Crew on 6/19 in United's 3-1 victory.
2003: A product of Springfield, Virginia, Carroll spent most of 2003 developing his game. His on-field experience was limited to U.S. Open Cup and friendly match appearances. He continued to be called up to play with the U.S. U-23 National Team.
