Weber visits Santa Clara Community Day School
Weber started the afternoon with a talk about the importance of education in his life. He told the assembled students and teachers how he had worked hard to get through high school and earn a soccer scholarship to the University of New Mexico. That scholarship eventually propelled him to a career in professional soccer. He also emphasized the need for the students to live healthy lifestyles and to make smart food choices. After his talk, he fielded questions from the crowd about his mentors as a youth soccer player and what it took for him to get through high school and college with a degree.
The UK International coaches then divided the students into teams and kicked off a full-field game. Weber played goalkeeper for the yellow team and made a number of saves. He even left the net on a few occasions to make a couple of long runs up the field. A number of the teachers jumped into the game to provide support to their students.
After a 45-minute game, Weber took time to sign autographs and pose for photos for everyone in attendance.
"I really enjoy coming out to schools and speaking to the students," said Weber. "I know that I had to work hard to get through high school and I hope that I can give them some inspiration to work hard and graduate."
