Galaxy Team Notes
TEN STRAIGHT: With the 2-2 draw in New England on Saturday, the Galaxy's winless streak stretched to 10 games, tying the club record for the longest winless streak ever. Since their last win on June 14 at San Jose, the Galaxy are 0-5-5 and have been outscored 24-14 in that stretch, allowing two or more goals in eight of those 10 games.
A loss or draw with Real Salt Lake on Saturday will see the Galaxy set a new club record for the longest winless streak, breaking the former mark of 10 straight games, which was set between May 6 and June 24 during the 2006 season. The Galaxy went 10 straight matches without a win, going 0-8-2 while being shutout six times.
WICKS MAKES DEBUT: Goalkeeper Josh Wicks made his MLS debut on Saturday night when he replaced the injured Steve Cronin at halftime of the 2-2 draw with New England. The 24-year old former USL First Division Goalkeeper of the Year made three saves and allowed just one goal in his time on the field. A graduate of Cal State Bakersfield, Wicks spent his first three years as a pro in the USL First Division with the Vancouver Whitecaps and Portland Timbers before signing with the Galaxy in March.
With Cronin and Charles Alamo both listed on the Galaxy injury report, Wicks is the only healthy goalkeeper on the roster. As a result, the Galaxy will call up League pool goalkeeper Mike Graczyk for Saturday's game against Real Salt Lake.
THREE BACK FROM PORTLAND: Bruce Arena has recalled three players from their loan assignments with the Portland Timbers of the USL First Division for a week's worth of training. Vardan Adzemian, Scott Bolkan and Bryan Jordan were on season-long loan agreements with the Timbers after signing with the Galaxy earlier this season. Jordan is the only one of the three to have played, for either the Galaxy or Timbers, appearing in one game for the Galaxy and nine games with Portland.
Their status for both Portland's game on Thursday night against Miami and LA's home game with Real Salt Lake on Saturday will be decided later in the week.
