Super Cup finalists set
La Chapin and C.D. Bata battle for championship on May 13
Washington, D.C. - D.C. United's inaugural Super Cup Tournament, presented by East West Mortgage, has progressed to the final round of games scheduled for Saturday, May 13th. The inaugural Super Cup tournament competition featured 16 elite Hispanic adult teams from local leagues with preliminary round games held at the D.C. United Training Complex.
The recent semifinal round, which took place on Saturday, April 29, featured La Chapin defeating Shulton City 2-1 and C.D. Bata defeating Miller & Long 3-2 on penalty kicks. Heading into the final round of competition, the 3rd and 4th place teams of Shulton City and Miller & Long will play at 2:00 p.m. and will be competing for $1,000 and $500 prizes, respectively.
The Championship game of the tournament will feature La Chapin versus C.D. Bata at 4:00 p.m. with a prize of $4,000 for the Cup winner and $1,500 for the runner-up. Both teams in the final game will receive automatic bids to play in the 2006 Copa TACA tournament and all four teams will receive adidas uniforms. Admission to all games is free-of-charge.
All fans are welcome to come out and watch the Super Cup final match between La Chapin and Bata at 4:00 p.m. on the auxiliary field before D.C. United's home match vs. the Kansas City Wizards at 7:30 p.m. at RFK Stadium.
