The New York Red Bulls knocked off Swedish opposition while the Colorado Rapids began their Florida camp with a scoreless draw against university opponents as MLS preseason action continued on Friday.

The Red Bulls knocked off Sweden's Hammarby IF 3-1 at The Home Depot Center on Friday morning, while the Colorado Rapids played to a scoreless draw against Florida Atlantic University at Boca Raton, Fla.

Goals from forward Oscar Echeverry and Juan Pablo Angel and defender Eric Brunner helped give the Red Bulls a 3-1 win against their Swedish Allskenskan visitors, New York's first victory of the preseason.

Echeverry slotted home a through ball from Claudio Reyna in the eighth minute to give the Red Bulls an early lead, then five minutes later, Echeverry was again in on the action, drawing a penalty kick at the right edge of the penalty box. Angel stepped up to the spot and buried it, doubled their advantage.

In the 28th minute, the Red Bulls made the lead 3-0. Off a corner kick, a Hammarby defender flicked it on right to the head of Brunner, who nodded it in from 10 yards out.

Hammarby was finally able to get on the board in the 66th minute when Claudio Dadomo was able to unleash a shot into the back of the net, but the Red Bulls held out to the end.

The Colorado Rapids opened the Florida portion of their preseason camp with a scoreless draw against Florida Atlantic University in a match played in three 30-minute periods on the FAU campus.

The Rapids played a 4-4-2 in each period. Mehdi Ballouchy was a late scratch with a strained muscle in his leg.

The Rapids are scheduled to play their second game of the preseason on Saturday at their hotel in Sunrise, Fla. against Marathon of Honduras.
