Kevin Hartman's Book

The local library should be the first stop on your summer reading adventure. Libraries have books on all sorts of topics, so the biggest challenge you'll have is deciding which book to read first. If you need help finding books or you aren't sure how to use the library, ask the librarian for help. The librarian will offer tips and suggestions to get you started!

10 Questions for a Librarian

  1. How do I find books in the library?
  2. Is there a new author that I might be interested in reading?
  3. I really liked the Harry Potter books. Can you recommend other books like them?
  4. How many books can I check out at once?
  5. Does the library have a summer reading program or a book club?
  6. What is the most checked out book of all time?
  7. How long can I keep the books that I check out?
  8. Do you have any book clubs for kids my age?
  9. How many books does the library have?
  10. How can I reserve a book if it is already checked out?

Although you can read anywhere, you may find out that some places are better for reading than others. If so, the suggestions below might help you create a good reading space this summer.

How to Create a Good Reading Space

  2. Find a comfortable chair, some fluffy pillows, or a thick blanket.
  3. Sit near a window or a lamp.
  4. Make a library of your favorite books, and keep them in your reading space.
