Jimmy Eat World Homepage > Jimmy Eat World Myspace page > The two title contenders won't be the only thing rocking RFK Stadium on Sunday, Nov. 18. Interscope Records recording artist Jimmy Eat World has been announced as the halftime performer for Major League Soccer's 12th annual MLS Cup. The match will be broadcast live on ABC and TeleFutura at Noon ET. Based in Arizona, Jimmy Eat World burst onto the rock scene with a hit single "The Middle" in 2001, sending their eponymous album Jimmy Eat World multi-platinum. Since, they have become a fixture on the tour circuit, and have garnered significant accolades, including a Saturday Night Live slot, an MTV Video Award nomination and chances to tour with Weezer, Green Day and Blink-182. The band's 2004 follow-up to Jimmy Eat World, Futures, also earned critical acclaim from the likes of Rolling Stone, USA Today, Spin, Blender and Alternative Press, to name but a few. At MLS Cup, Jimmy Eat World will headline the halftime festivities, performing songs from their new album Chase This Light, which debuted at a career-high #5 on the Billboard Top 200. Chase This Light is the band's most stylistically varied, musically ambitious and lyrically brave effort. The album earned an "A" rating from Entertainment Weekly. "Major League Soccer is pleased to welcome Jimmy Eat World ... to highlight our 12th annual Championship match at MLS Cup 2007," said MLS Vice President of Special Events, Geoffrey Hayes. "With performers like Christina Aguilera, Michelle Branch, Paulina Rubio, Switchfoot, Lupe Fiasco and The Academy Is... highlighting past MLS events, we are proud to continue the tradition of providing world-class entertainment at our marquee events."
